What is Adobe Workfront and who is it built for?
Adobe describes Workfront as a system where people and AI agents work in one governed place. Its pricing page lists work management, demand management, portfolio management, resource management, review and approval, reporting and integrations, sold as Select, Prime and Ultimate packages. The overview page adds AI Collaborators, a Workfront MCP, a Workflow Optimization Agent and links to Adobe Experience Manager, Creative Cloud for enterprise and GenStudio for Performance Marketing. Adobe publishes no prices; each package ends in a request for pricing.
Can SmartSuite run workflow management for communications teams?
For intake, planning and approvals, yes. The Marketing Operations suite has four products: Marketing Requests & Work Management, Campaign Planning & Management, Content & Asset Management and Campaign Performance & Marketing Analytics. Requests arrive through intake forms with rule-based routing and workload views, and content moves through approval workflows with a current view of every asset.
The automation builder adds Conditional Logic, Looping and an AI Workflow Agent action, so a request can route one way above a threshold and another way below it. Forms accept submissions from guests, and guests submitting shared forms never count against billable users, so a whole communications team can send requests without a seat. The marketing pages read today do not describe a creative proofing or markup tool, which Workfront's review and approval covers.
Is it a flexible alternative for marketing operations without rigid tools?
Where the work is a mix of campaigns, content calendars, events and budgets, it can be. The same suite lists campaign management, a content calendar and production, event management, social media management, budget and spend tracking and marketing reviews and compliance approvals. Teams that run delivery alongside it can use the Project Management suite with Kanban, list, calendar, timeline and Gantt views over the same records.
The trade-off is scope. Workfront's pricing page lists portfolio and resource management as package capabilities for enterprise scale; if the project is a company-wide system of record for creative production, confirm that depth with both vendors before choosing.
Which should you choose?
Choose Workfront when creative review, enterprise portfolio and resource management and Adobe integrations are the core of the project, and you have the budget and time for a quote-led deployment.
Choose the platform when the work is requests, campaigns, content calendars and approvals, when you want published pricing and a trial before a contract, and when many people need to request, approve or read without paying for a seat. Start a 14-day free trial with no credit card.
