Problem
Manual Workflows, Missed Visibility
Lipps Electric, a trusted electrical contractor in the Ohio Valley region, faced operational inefficiencies as it scaled to meet growing demand for residential and commercial services. As the company grew, operational complexity increased—especially with a blended team of office staff and more than a dozen field technicians.
Before adopting SmartSuite, the organization relied on Trello and manual processes that couldn’t scale to support recurring tasks, technician onboarding, or standardized project execution. Field task tracking was inconsistent, and office workflows lacked structure and automation. Leaders often found themselves duplicating checklist items, handwriting notes, and juggling email folders just to stay organized.
Onboarding new customer service reps or technicians required manual file linking and one-off tracking, making it difficult to monitor progress or ensure accountability. Despite having processes in place, Lipps Electric lacked the centralized visibility and workflow automation needed to operate efficiently and scale with confidence.

Solution
Building Hubs for a Smarter Operation
SmartSuite empowered Lipps Electric to consolidate operations into three core hubs: Tech Hub, Office Hub, and a CEO/Leadership Hub. Kevin built out structured training modules with linked resources, status tracking, and clear definitions of done. While initial training assignments were still manual, SmartSuite's automation capabilities allowed them to assign tasks, trigger onboarding checklists, and streamline offboarding within minutes.
Recurring workflows like “Weekly Standard Work” and “Top 5 Projects” were digitized, giving leadership a clearer way to prioritize and review weekly progress. Dashboards—highlighted and championed by Emma Montgomery—became a critical next step. With help from Emma and Geoff, Kevin began building user-specific dashboards that simplify access for field technicians and office staff alike.
“We’re starting to use SmartSuite for everything from training and checklists to automating offboarding—it’s made a huge difference in how we work.”

A Dashboard-Driven Path to Scale
Kevin and his team now manage over 150 internal projects with clarity and focus. Using SmartSuite’s automation, the HR team can onboard and offboard employees in under 30 minutes. Field technicians are assigned training and tasks via a current-user dashboard view, eliminating the guesswork of tab-hopping and improving accountability.
Most importantly, Kevin is planning a future where every team member logs into a personalized dashboard tailored to their role. “I can envision a space where the dashboard is the starting point, linking everyone to the tools and info they need—it’s going to reduce confusion and keep us all on track.”
By adopting dashboards and forms, Lipps Electric is unlocking the next level of operational maturity—with Kevin leading the charge to build a truly integrated and scalable system.
