Even though OneTrust’s pricing is not disclosed on the website, as it is fully custom, I still managed to find user reviews to find how much it costs for them.
In this guide, I’ll review OneTrust’s pricing structure, going over how they figure out how much to charge you, and discuss reported numbers.
➡️ At the end of this article, I’ll introduce you to an alternative to OneTrust for governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) that offers a more affordable pricing structure, better customer support, and is easier to set up.
OneTrust’s Pricing Structure
OneTrust offers different pricing plans for its 5 product lines, all of which have custom pricing:
- Consent & Preferences: The ability to capture and activate consent, preferences, and first-party data across your user touchpoints.
- Privacy Automation: Being able to simplify compliance, improve operational efficiency, and help your business better use personal data.
- Third-Party Management, including third-party risk management and the ability to fully manage your third-party lifecycle.
- Tech Risk & Compliance: Helping you scale governance, risk, and compliance, and maturing your risk program.
- AI Governance to let you gain visibility and control over your AI technology and empower risk-based decisions.

Does OneTrust Have A Free Plan?
OneTrust does not have a free plan, but it offers free tools that you can use for basic tasks, such as creating a CCPA opt-out builder.
The platform offers 3 free tools that you can get started with at no cost:
- Cookie banner gallery that offers several cookie banner and preference center layouts that you can customize to fit your brand.
- OneTrust DataGuidance Research that lets you get the complete enterprise edition of the tool’s cookie compliance tool for your first domain.
- CCPA opt-out builder that lets you create a Do Not Sell notice to comply with CCPA Opt-Out requirements.

How Does OneTrust Calculate Its Pricing?
According to OneTrust, each solution package has one or more value-based usage meters that determine the final pricing that you’ll receive.
Alternatively, solutions that support privacy, technology, third-party, or AI risk and compliance programs are metered on admin users and the size of inventory managed by the software.
On the other hand, the tool’s products that are focused on responsible data collection and usage are metered based on either:
- Number of data profiles.
- Visitors.
- Data volume.
➡️ The platform also offers scalability in cases where you exceed your usage limit, or you’ll be asked to transition to the next tier for cost savings.
How Much Does OneTrust Really Cost?
The median OneTrust buyer pays $11,500 per year for the platform, based on data from 325 purchases from Vendr.
According to Vendr, the entry threshold for the platform can be as low as $1,620/year, while for an enterprise-grade solution it can cost up to $42,534/year.

Additionally, according to more insider information from Spendflo, OneTrust’s pricing is as follows based on what they were able to find:
- $3,680/month for data mapping, third-party risk, incident management, and privacy impact assessments in the Privacy Essentials Suite.
- $827/month for a single domain in the Consent & Preference Essentials plan.
- $1,100/month for cookie consent, user consent records, and privacy policy generation.
- $1,125/month for CCPA compliance and $2,275/month for GDPR compliance, with additional features for privacy rights automation, cookie consent, and third-party risk management.
Does OneTrust Provide Good Value for Money?
Despite OneTrust’s advanced solutions, which offers a suite of privacy, security, and third-party risk management capabilities, its considerably high cost can be a deal-breaker for SMEs or corporations with limited budgets
Here’s an example of a team lead from a small organization who complains that the pricing for the software has been high for their company:

‘’Pricing for the software is high.’’ – G2 Review.
The conclusion of whether OneTrust provides good value for money based on 47 reviews on Capterra is 3.9/5.

Any Surprises At Contract Renewal?
I found once instance of a user complaining about a price rise after they were renewing their contract on G2.
Apparently, in 2022, there was a price increase, however, it wasn’t a complete deal-breaker for the mid-market client.
➡️ I could not find additional information whether price increases are on a case-per-case basis or for everyone. What we know is that you can expect a price increase at some point in using the tool.

‘’... And perhaps the recent price increase, but that's not something to drive us away from the product.’’ – G2 Review.
Looking For A OneTrust Alternative?
People have been looking for OneTrust alternatives not only due to the expensive pricing, but also because the platform’s UI is outdated, it has limited reporting functionality, and also a poor customer support.

‘’I would like to see better out-of-the-box reporting using the Dashboards and Reports. The Dashboard graph options are somewhat limited.’’ – G2 Review.
