Solution Display Types — Four Ways to View Your Solutions
Icon, Card, Pill, and Admin layouts change how Solutions display on the Homepage—from a categorized grid to a metadata-rich admin table, each member picks what fits.
What Is Solution Display Types?
Solution Display Types are the SmartSuite Homepage's layout formats, controlling how Solutions are displayed and organized: Icon groups Solutions by Category, Card shows large tiles with name, icon, and summary, Pill compresses long lists for scanning, and Admin adds metadata such as last-opened dates and members. Each member selects their own preferred layout, and Admins set the workspace-wide default.
Everyday Layouts
Browse Solutions as Icons, Cards, or Pills
Icon—the default—groups Solutions by Category for an organized directory. Card renders large tiles that surface each Solution's name, icon, and summary at a glance, while Pill compresses dozens of Solutions into a compact list built for fast scanning. All three are available to every user.
Workspace Oversight
Review Solution Usage with the Admin Layout
The Admin layout—restricted to Admins and Solution Managers—adds operational metadata to the same list: last-opened dates and membership per Solution. It turns the Homepage into a lightweight usage review, surfacing stale Solutions and unexpected access at a glance.
Defaults & Preferences
Balance Personal Choice with a Workspace Default
Every member selects their own layout and SmartSuite remembers the choice; Admins separately set the workspace-wide default that new and unconfigured members start with. Personal preference and governed consistency coexist—no one's choice overrides anyone else's.
Solution Display Types
How Solutions display shapes how fast people find governed work—display types let program-heavy GRC workspaces and browsing-friendly policy hubs share one Homepage.
Teams browsing risk, audit, and vendor Solutions use Card tiles so each Solution's summary is readable before opening it—useful when several registers live side by side.
A GRC workspace with dozens of framework, audit, and vendor Solutions is scanned fastest in the compact Pill list—compliance staff find the right register in seconds.
A workspace admin switches to the Admin layout to spot Solutions unopened for months and review their membership—informed cleanup instead of guesswork, and one less thing for the access review.
Combined with Personalization, each member's layout choice persists across the workspace—switch once and the Homepage stays the way you work.

They are the Homepage's selectable layout formats controlling how Solutions display: Icon (grouped by Category, the default), Card (large tiles with name, icon, and summary), Pill (a compact scanning list), and Admin (with metadata like last-opened dates and members).
Icon groups Solutions by Category for organized browsing, Card shows large tiles with each Solution's summary for at-a-glance context, and Pill compresses many Solutions into a dense list for fast scanning. All three are available to every user.

Yes. Every member selects a preferred layout and SmartSuite remembers that individual choice. Admins separately set the workspace-wide default that members start with.
No separate gating is documented—layout formats are part of the Homepage, which is available on all plans. The Admin layout is restricted by role, not by plan.
