With our new solution named and themed to our preference, the next crucial step is creating our first list, or in Smartsuite lingo, an app. Renaming it from the default "App 1" to something descriptive—like "Things to Buy"—sets the stage for the specifics of our project.
Customizing Information: Adding Fields and Records
By default, you'll see a spreadsheet view with columns, but not all fields may be relevant to your needs. Customizing this space is a breeze. If you don't need a "Status" or "Due Date," simply hide them, and voila! A cleaner canvas awaits you. When some items require additional details like quantity, SmartSuite empowers you to add number fields with ease, even allowing you to set default values and restrictions.
Going Deeper: Linking Apps and Stores
Smartsuite's brilliance shines when you start intertwining different apps for a more complex data structure. This is where we see the lists begin to speak to each other; for instance, connecting our "Things to Buy" app to a "Stores" app, so that our grocery items are linked to Sprout's while home improvement items connect to Home Depot.
